OUR MISSION

Our Mission at Cedar Street:

Gospel Transformation

At Cedar Street, we believe that the gospel message is good news of salvation through Jesus Christ that not only redeems our lives but transforms our souls.

Below are CSBC’s official mission, vision, and focus statements that we adopted in an effort to seek gospel transformation in pursuit of the head, heart, and hands of Jesus Christ:

Our Mission Statement

“Cedar Street Baptist Church exists to glorify God and advance His heavenly kingdom here on earth by making Christian disciples whose heads, hearts, and hands are being transformed through the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Our Vision Statement

“Our vision is to become a church of Christian disciples whose thoughts, words, and actions reflect the image of Jesus Christ and represent new life in the kingdom of God.”

Our Focus Statement

“Our focus is on proclaiming the gospel. This gospel message is the good news that sinful human beings are being reconciled to personal relationship with God and restored to new life in His eternal kingdom by grace through faith in the life, death, resurrection, ascension, and eventual second-coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.”

We believe this gospel transformation takes place both holistically and progressively, as God’s Spirit works in unison with God’s Word to transform God’s people to be more like God’s Son and to join God’s mission. This process begins with our heads (the mind) through the preaching and teaching of the gospel, moves to our hearts (the will) as we respond in repentance and faith to the gospel, and then is finally demonstrated through our hands (the action) as we participate in the kingdom mission of the gospel.

This entire process is in obedience to the Great Commission that Christ gave to His disciples in Matthew 28:18-20 when He proclaimed, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Jesus promises to return to this earth and consummate a new, eternal kingdom once the gospel has reached every tribe, tongue, and nation. Until then we must preach and teach this message everywhere to be Christ’s witnesses “in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
