What To Expect From Us
If you have never been to one of our services here at Cedar Street, below is a description of our approach to worship from our focus, format, and times of service
At Cedar Street Baptist Church, we strive to have our services focus on preparing our hearts and minds to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth, who alone is worthy of all our worship. The aim of our worship services is singing the songs of our faith and hearing the Scriptures proclaimed, as our heads, hearts, and hands are slowly being transformed from the inside out by the gospel of Christ.
The format of our worship is a blend of both traditional and contemporary music, as our music minister helps to lead our church to seek and to savor our amazing God. We believe that worship is about reminding the heart and mind of the truths of the gospel message, so from the songs that we sing, to the reading and proclamation of the Bible, it is all about elevating the name of Jesus.
At Cedar Street, we celebrate Communion together once a quarter, and participants do not have to be a CSBC member or even a Southern Baptist to join us at the Lord's Table. Our only requirements are that each participant has already received baptism as a believer, and that they each examine their hearts prior to taking the elements to ensure everyone is approaching the Lord's Supper with a posture of humble unity according to 1 Corinthians 11:17-34.
Every Sunday, our various age groups meet for Sunday School starting at 9:45 a.m. A list of our Sunday School classes can be found HERE. Our worship service begins at 11 a.m. and you will be led in a blend of contemporary and traditional songs of praise to our God. After the song service, our pastor preaches verse-by-verse expository messages that come directly from the Bible, are focused on Jesus Christ, and help us to apply timeless gospel truths to our lives. His goal in one calendar year is to preach messages that cover at least one Old Testament book, one New Testament book, one key topic, one core doctrine, and at least a portion of one of the four Gospels. This approach ensures that our church receives the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:27).
NURSERY and TINY TOT care is provided during our morning services.
We have evening worship on Sunday nights starting at 5 p.m. Pastor Bo leads the adults in the Sunday Night Studies.
