Cedar Street Baptist Church began as a mission of the First Baptist Church of Metter with the first services being held in August, 1960. With support and leadership from the Metter community, the mission immediately began to grow. In July, 1961, the first mission pastor was called, and in 1963 land was purchased. In June, 1964, a ground breaking ceremony was held for the first building which was completed a year later. Cedar Street Baptist Church was constituted as a self-supporting Southern Baptist Church in October, 1964.
Since then the church has continued to grow, and in 1980 a new sanctuary was built. Recently, the Fellowship Hall (2007) and the Sunday School rooms (2008) have been renovated. In 2008 a playground for the children was added. The members of Cedar Street Baptist Church continue to trust in God to meet their needs.
